How to thicken your Sauce
If your spaghetti sauce it too thin, there are a couple options to thicken.
Cook Down the Sauce
Cooking the sauce down takes some time, but it is an easy and effective way to thicken your spaghetti sauce. Set your temperature to low and simmer until it thickens to your desired consistency.
Create a Slurry
You can make a cornstarch and water slurry. Just mix equal parts of cornstarch and cold water, then mix it into your sauce. Simmer and stir for about 2 minutes. If it is still too thin, add more slurry mix. Be sure to add no more than 1 tablespoons of slurry per 2 cups of sauce.
How Long Spaghetti Sauce Last in Fridge?
If your sauce is stored properly, it will last in the fridge for about 3-4 days. Be sure to practice food safety. If the sauce doesn’t look right or smells off, it is best to error of the side of caution and toss it.
Does Spaghetti Sauce Freeze well?
Yes! It stores very well in the freezer. It will last for around 2 or 3 months. Once thawed, heat all the way through to ensure any bacteria that may have developed have been eliminated. Store leftovers in fridge and avoid refreezing again.

Meaty Spaghetti Sauce

- 1 Can Opener

- 1 Cutting Board

Ingredients
- 1 cup Onion diced
- 1 cup Celery diced
- 2 Tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 lb Ground Beef
- 2 cans 28 oz Crushed Tomatoes
- 2 Tbsp Italian Seasoning
- ½ Tbsp Onion Powder
- ½ Tbsp Garlic Powder
- 1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
- ½ Tbsp Sugar
Instructions
- Dice your onion and celery and set aside.
- Heat your pot over medium heat and add oil.
- Once oil is heated, add your onion and celery. Use a wooden spoon to stir and cook until your tender, about 3-5 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Be sure to stir frequently.
- Add ground beef to pot and break up with spoon. Once browned, drain excess grease.
- Stir in Italian seasoning, onion and garlic powder. Then add in remaining ingredients and mix well.
- Bring to boil, then reduce to simmer for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once sauce has reached desired thickness, serve on-top of pasta of your choice.
