Beyond Tacos
Yup, you read that right! While this taco seasoning initially perfect for taco night, you can use this in other recipes as well! I use this often in Mexican skillets. Tossing in stuff that I Have on hand like refried beans, beef, black beans, salsa, corn and a healthy dose of the seasoning mix. I’ve used this in casseroles and as a marinade as well.
Taco seasoning pairs beautifully with all kinds of meats like beef, chicken, pork and even fish!
Storage Options
I buy most of my spices for my blends in bulk from the store. They come in a plastic jar that can hold roughly 2 cups. When I first started creating my blends, I was storing them in pint mason jars with a air tight lid. It worked really well! Now, I use the jars that have been emptied to store my spice blends and create my own label!
How long will the taco seasoning blend last?
The blend will last 6 months if stored properly.
The freshness of the spices used for the blend will influence the shelf life. If fresh at the time of creating the mixture, it will will likely have a longer shelf life.
It is always best to use your best judgement. If a spice blend doesn’t look right, smells or looks off, it’s best to create a new batch.
